Three Weeks Left...

Three weeks left of summer before I have to be back full time... With a meeting here and there, I am quickly approaching the "oh S*@$! I have to teach now!" But some fun things did happen this summer... Like going to Denver and meeting my new nephew Peter.

We took him to his FIRST brewery tour...

Then I completed a Pre-Calculus content class- got an 95%... then Jeremy and I went to San Diego to visit my other nieces and nephew...

We went to the beach, Balboa Park, the science center (as seen with Giovanni checking out the "phone")

AND to the San Diego Zoo... where we found lots of things to look at...

Checking out the Pandas!

and just having fun!

NOW- finished a geometry class in one day! (go payraise) and need to teach a First Aid CPR class in a few days... the countdown will continue!!!

Oh Summer, I wish I didn't neglect you so... I didn't mean it when I was complaining of the raging heat... I swear!

First week of summer vacation!

My first week... what did I do?
1) I taught a class for two days to teachers who wanted to start their summer already but needed training days... did you know that teachers are THE WORST STUDENTS???
2) I went to the Fremont Solstice Day Festival... Missed the parade of painted naked bicyclists, but there were still remenents of them walking around... All Stella, Marlene, and I can say is "tiger-print chaps and a matching hat... no underpants included..."
3) Drove to Spokane, painted our rental house, decided that I am a princess and not meant for manual labor, drove home.
4) Haircut, Hair Dyed, met with friends from church, chiropractor visit, volleyball practice, massage, shopping with parents(I hate shopping with them), hopefully yoga tonight if I can build up the motivation...
5) Cooked two new dinners... don't think hubby liked the asparagus two days in a row though...
6) will be packing to fly to Denver tomorrow...

I'd say pretty much pooped, not that I got anything completely done...

Back From Chicago! Thank Goodness!

My first trip to Chicago (Jeremy's hometown) was fun (except in the back seat of the car)... Here is the neanderthal fitting right in... at the Field Museum of Natural History.

Here we are at the Cubs Game- we were at rooftop party across the street (total view, bleachers, and free food and bevs... even better)

Here I am with my future sister-in-law, Abby and my first of too many martinis... they say "Martinis are like Boobs- one is not enough, two is perfect, three is too many...? I 'think' I had about 5-6... and a terrible night after...

It was great seeing where Jeremy grew up and his schools. And meeting future family... Plus the wedding we went to was fun! even if I only knew a handful of people there. I only got annoyed a few times and those times faded away with a few free minutes to myself... thank goodness for rooms on different floors!
Will have to go back again someday... maybe with just the two of us....

Riverfloat 2008!!!

This is the first year I have gone on the Annual Girls Riverfloat in Eburg, WA. Due to the contents in the actual river pictures, there will need to be some cropping before publication... So we will go backwards and start with out night out on the town (so to speak)

1) Jeni, Stella, and Maureen at the Palace having a frosty bev...

2) Maureen, Vickie, Jeni, Christy, Stella, and Molly at the Starlite (waiting for frosty bevs)

3) Maureen holding up Mother Mary and St Francis to converse with Stella over breakfast...

4) Stella carries the weight of a Saint on her shoulder... ha ha

Floating the river was TONS of fun and sun, despite being eaten up by mosquitos on steroids (just had to see the top of my hand), being knocked into the river by a tree, losing the oars not once but twice (thanks to Moe for retrieving them) and having lots of laughs with some pretty darn fun chicks!
I can't wait until next year... Thanks Vickie for the planning and a place to crash!

I leave for Spokane area for the fourth of july weekend... without ANY camera...
we are on Diamond Lake- it is beautiful...
people spend hundreds... even thousands on fireworks from the reservation...
these people live all around the lake...
they light off fireworks like the ones we see at the big shows in the city... big flowers!! large balls of color that twinkle as they fall...
RIGHT ABOVE MY HEAD!!!
Figures...... no camera.

First week of summer.... start work tomorrow....

The first week of summer has come to a close... I have attended a training (work), a meeting (work), cleaned out my classroom, attended and won two (count them 1, 2) trivia nights complete with trophies, watched a lot of travel channel and food network, witnessed the Fremont Solstice Parade and Fair (and christened several friends into the tradition... of watching... not riding bikes), and celebrated a friends retirement....

Not to mention ate a lot of junk food... went to gym not very often (will start tomorrow).

Now keep the prayers a going for a call for an interview with a high school teaching job.... and the courage to tell my boss about it soon...
